Team Development Project
The Situation
An information technology (IT) center of a large San Francisco apparel company was involved in an initiative to over haul their customer service supply chain. Due to the massive amount of work involved in the initiative, the company needed to create virtual project teams who would work for 6-18 months on this project.
The Problem
Since there was little time for each person of the given teams (36 new teams were formed), the new players needed to get up to speed ASAP to be able to function effectively develop the resources and new mechanisms for the new supply team.
Many of the experts from the different IT disciplines lacked the kind of people skills necessary for this kind of project work and there was some concern productivity would be adversely effected.
Each team needed to have a team leader and most of these persons had little or no experience leading teams.
The QPS Solution
Introduced the W.I.S.D.O.M. model for team leaders and team participants through a 3 day workshop.
Introduced an ongoing study hall system for team leaders to come and work through their team leadership and project issues using the W.I.S.D.O.M mode.
The Result
73% of all projects completed their initiatives on time.
20% of the remaining project teams finished 30-60 days later.
The company was so pleased with results of the WISDOM system that QPS was asked to introduce this program as a regular part of team and work group development.
